Tax Reserve Calculator for Solopreneurs

Estimate a planning tax reserve from taxable profit, an assumed tax rate, social contributions, prior balances, and money already reserved.

By Solopreneurship WikiReviewed September 2026
Wiki note: Tax money is a liability, not spendable operating cash; keep it separate and update the estimate as profit changes.

This educational calculator turns an assumed effective tax rate into a reserve target and shows the remaining amount to set aside. It deliberately keeps the rate visible because tax rules depend on jurisdiction and legal form.

Formula and assumptions

Estimated liability = taxable profit × planning tax rate + contributions + prior shortfall − credits. Remaining reserve = estimated liability − amount already reserved.

Use source data where possible, record the date of your assumptions, and keep all monetary inputs in the selected currency. A precise-looking answer is only as reliable as the inputs behind it.

How to interpret the result

Use the result to plan transfers, then replace assumptions with calculations from a qualified local professional. Recalculate after material revenue, expense, legal-structure, or residency changes.

Stress-test the decision

Run a conservative case, an expected case, and an optimistic case. Change one important assumption at a time so you can see what actually drives the answer. Define the action you will take if the conservative case occurs.

Worked example

A business expects 70,000 of taxable profit, uses a 24% planning rate, anticipates 4,000 in contributions and a 1,000 prior shortfall, and already holds 9,000 in its tax account.

Replace every example value with evidence from your own accounts, time records, quotes, contracts, or customer data. Save the result alongside those sources so it can be reviewed later.

Limitations

This is not tax advice and does not calculate any jurisdiction’s tax law, brackets, deductions, VAT, payroll obligations, filing dates, or social-insurance rules.

Calculator outputs are educational planning estimates. They are not financial, tax, legal, employment, investment, or medical advice and they do not guarantee a business outcome.
